6 THE FLAME

At the same time, Josh's wife falls seriously ill, which intensifies his doubts. He sits at her bedside and holds her hand. The agony of seeing her suffering makes him turn away. His wife wants to appear brave and smiles wearily, just to show him that not everything is hopeless. 

Josh's inner life begins to falter again. He has a terrible suspicion and soon a plan is maturing in him. He asks his wife to hold out and says goodbye to her. Josh sets out to join an old acquaintance. He must get absolute certainty now.
